Buy cheapest WildStar Gold - What differentiates WildStar other games is that kill quotas are percentage based

WildStar is a busy game. In every direction, shiny baubles and fluttering flags and swirling beacons of light compete for your attention. The world of Nexus is awash with color--or, more specifically, awash with all of the colors, many of them splashed across the screen at any given time as if by an artist determined to exhaust his entire supply of paint. Developer Carbine Studios, apparently unable to choose a single art style, squeezed multiple ones together, crafting an audiovisual potpourri that's as eclectic as the game's narrative themes. A horn-heavy tune, the kind John Williams would be proud to have written, calls out during a planetside battle, evoking Star Wars and its galactic tensions. Graceful gazelles glide across the grass while the music whispers a hint of Disney's Pocahontas soundtrack, at least when it isn't mirroring chord progressions from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Quests and regions refer to Left 4 Dead and Firefly, and your level-up notification flashes with comic-book pizzazz. In WildStar, the pop culture references flow freely down a river of science fiction and fantasy themes, each wink and nod leaping from the waters with glee.

WildStar’s eight playable races are divvied up comfortably between two factions both vying for control of Nexus – the forgotten homeworld of the Eldan, a hyper-advanced race – which neatly sets the tone for a familiar two-sided confrontation. But even with the Dominion-Exile conflict now raging across the planet’s surface, your adventurer is the least interesting parts of this saga. The greater story lies in Nexus’ secrets, and while occasional bursts of dialog and quest text remind you of your heroic stature, WildStar ultimately falls prey to narrative issues common in MMORPGs -- painting you as the lone savior while you watch your same feats completed by a rotating door of adventurers.

At the beginning of the game you pick from one of two factions. The Exiles are a rag-tag bunch of space refugees, who have arrived on Wildstar's planet of Nexus in order to make a new home. The Dominion-the guys who exiled The Exiles-are an intergalactic empire that have traveled to Nexus to unearth the technology of an ancient, powerful and mysteriously vanished race. Neither side is particularly fond of the other. Your character is hand-picked-actually, let's not kid ourselves, every character is hand-picked to represent their chosen faction in the impending Exile vs. Dominion ruckus. While the opening story suggests a coherent narrative, once you're free of the tutorial, the plot takes a backseat to a series of episodes centred around the many outposts you'll find in each zone. Your character acts as an all purpose solution to your faction's many problems-like Harvey Keitel in Pulp Fiction, if he had bunny ears or was a robot.

What differentiates WildStar's to-do list from that of other games is that kill quotas are percentage based, so the bigger and badder the variety of target, the quicker you get your reward. The symptomatic level grind is present and correct, of course, kicking in at around level 30, but in WildStar its side effects are greatly reduced by you not being more than a couple of minutes away from an injection of XP. Granted, you won't find much that you haven't done before in an MMO quest, aside from perhaps the odd quicktime event, but here at least the missions are breezy and segue into various challenges, making for a progression that doesn't feel like it's dragging its heels too much.

That focus on skill is important to Wildstar's difficult combat. As in most MMOs, the combat system revolves around tapping buttons to activate skills. The big difference is that most skills are used immediately, and even when a skill has a build-up time before it's used, characters can keep moving while it builds. I'm still inching my way toward Wildstar's current level 50 cap after dozens of hours of play, and I've only experienced a mere fraction of what's available in the game. This is almost always true for MMOs, but Wildstar manages that sense of an unending sea of content without much of it feeling like unnecessary padding. I've done a lot of this before, but here I can do it faster, more polished and with more expected of me. That's enough to keep me happy for now.
