- Hulu has revealed the release date for Marvel Cinematic Universe series Helstrom

Hulu recently dropped more details about its upcoming Marvel series Helstrom, releasing a trailer and confirming that every episode of the show would indeed be hitting Hulu's service on October 16th.

Officially announced back in 2019, Helstrom is a standalone series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring on the very subtly named Daimon and Satana Hellstrom. It was originally intended to be a part of Marvel's "Adventure Into Fear" franchise, that was set to replace the company's cancelled Netflix shows. However, after the cancellation of Ghost Rider and the shutdown of Marvel Television, Helstrom is the only project from the initiative to see its way to a full release.

Helstrom is one of the few projects left over from the Jeph Loeb era at Marvel Television and was originally planned to be a part of Marvel's "Adventure into Fear" franchise along with a TV show focused on Ghost Rider. However, Ghost Rider, and the animated adult series Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler, were canceled by Hulu before they even made it to production.

However, a separation from Marvel isn't necessarily a bad thing for Helstrom. Shows that clearly come from established franchises have to deal with high fan expectations. Many who watch the trailer may not even realize Helstrom is a Marvel property, which could make them more likely to check it out. Sometimes, casual comic book fans can be turned off by the scope of something like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so a smaller, less connected show like Helstrom could be exactly what they're looking for.

Despite the unfortunate fate of the other "Adventure Into Fear" projects, Helstrom is planned to run for 10 episodes, and to debut during Hulu's "Huluween" programming block, with all episodes available from the word go. It should hopefully tide over hungry Marvel fans who've lost sight of the next big MCU project during quarantine, and will hopefully be an exciting show in its own right.
