- EVE Echoes is not the only spin-off game based on the EVE Online universe

The ambitious mobile MMO EVE: Echoes was finally confirmed to release this month and pre-orders and pre-registrations recently went live on the App Store and Google Play. If you’ve not followed the game at all EVE: Echoes is an EVE game set in an alternate universe that promises to be a competent take on the massive EVE Online for mobile devices.

EVE Echoes is not the only spin-off game based on the EVE Online universe. In fact CCP recently canceled a shooter under the development title of Project Nova. However the studio is hoping to include some of the work from that project into another first-person EVE Echoes ISK onlineshooter it is developing. Kongregate is also releasing the strategy game EVE: War of Ascension in the coming months.

NetEase said in the future it will add more features from Eve to the mobile game such as Sovereignty and larger ship hulls. Expect crossover events between Eve Echoes and Eve Online too.

Although EVE Online is not quite as popular as it was during the height of the game's success the series still has a dedicated following. So it makes sense that CCP Games would want to expand the franchise onto new platforms to take advantage of what is already a well established in-game universe. Fans will not only be very happy to see that EVE Echoes has finally released after several delays but also that it will have some crossover functionality. That provides an extra incentive for veteran players to download and play the mobile game.
