The round's starting player has the first choice for powerful Action cards, which dictate his options for that round. Subsequent prospectors can be savvy and alter their exploration based on other players' surveying, or the last player could choose to sell his oil at a different company than his neighbors and find an easier auction at which to bid.

 

Personalized Mech’s for the punks and Warbeasts for the mages make for a diversified form of travel and combat in Black Gold Online. All of this customization within a graphically detailed environment makes Black Gold Online an open ended adventure for both masters of steam and mana. Tadesse Meskela’s objective is to band the farmers around a co-operative so as to be able to negotiate better prices. They’re not on a mission to make prices rocket, but just a few dollars more would improve the livelihood of the farmers tremendously, and to enable their children to have decent education. It’s also about the attempts to remove the multi-layered middleman chain (up to 6 links), and I’ve always been a proponent to eradicate the middle sections because unless they value add, there's no point swelling the pockets of those who does what I deem a "postman’s job".

 

Black Gold Online is an MMORPG by Snail Games that is set in a steampunk fantasy universe. Two factions - Isenhorst and Erlandir - battle each other for resources. You can choose to be human on either faction, or two unique races to each. Isenhorst possesses crafty dwarves and cunning vampires, while Erlandir boasts the blue-skinned Kosh and the mighty brutes. Players can choose to be three classes (dependent on faction); each class also has three different specializations. The amount of systems in the game is quite astonishing as well. Your questing can take branching paths, each path having different results. Players can also engage in mech based combat, which can be upgraded. Players can create custom spells by combining abilities they already have.

 

The technology area seems like a watered-down version of Defiance, the recently launched MMORPG by Trion Worlds. The cliffs, barren lands and brownish textures seem a little too overpowering, although some may argue that is the intended visual. The monsters include several mutant types, mad scientists, robots or a mix of everything. It is like a post-apocalypse era, found in games such as Fallout and some indie online games. Not very impressed. Combat in Black Gold is of a hybrid kind, making players target enemies with the cursor, but attacks and skills require aiming to work and use of combos and dodging. Combat will also feature 360 degree movement, with the possibility to aim at the skies, ground and sea.

 

In a vivid world where traditional high fantasy clashes with innovative Victorian steampunk, the discovery of a mysterious energy source sparked an ever-raging conflict between two belligerent factions. While one side seeks to manipulate the energy, empowering their arts of healing and sorcery, the other forges the energy into steam tech, engineering the fires of industry and gearing the machines of war. The two feuding alignments fight over the 300 square kilometer continent of Montel using powerful wizardry and a full range of spells only to be countered with amphibious assaults, airpower and steam technology.
